Locals Support Operation of Rorotan RDF Plant

RW 08 Chairman, Rorotan Urban Village, Cilincing Sub-district, North Jakarta, Ahmad Fauzi hopes that the Rorotan Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) Plant will be operational soon as an effort to overcome the waste problem in Jakarta.

Very welcoming of this development

Fauzi admitted that from the beginning he strongly supported the Jakarta Government's realization of RDF development as it is a solution for waste management not only in his area.

"Very welcoming of this development, but there are always people who agree and disagree. This is quite normal," he expressed, Thursday (9/25).

Expert: RDF Plant Operations in Rorotan are Safe

He admitted, his residence is very close to the RDF Plant, less than five kilometers away. Hence, he is very knowledgeable about the RDF construction process, from the initial stage to the end.

According to him, the Environmental Agency has already conducted evaluations and taken the necessary steps to solve the issues raised by residents regarding the operation of this RDF.

"It was immediately followed up, especially regarding addressing the issues of smell and air quality," he explained.

He added socialization about this case had been held to residents of RW 08, Rorotan Urban Village.

"This Rorotan RDF Plant creates new job opportunities. Some of my residents already work there; let's not let them become unemployed again," he added.

Another support also came from the Village Consultative Body Member from RW 09, Rorotan Urban Village, Ahadi.

"I have entered the RDF Plant area, it's very advanced and modern," he added.

He hoped that the waste at each TPS in Rorotan could be quickly transported to the RDF Plant in Rorotan and processed into an energy source.

"This RDF can handle waste, making our environment cleaner and more comfortable," he added.

Then appreciation came from a resident of RT 16/07, Rorotan Urban Village, Dadi Setiawan.

"I agree. Hopefully, it can address the waste problem in Jakarta. We also know that the waste in Bantar Gebang, Bekasi, is already quite a lot; it's sad to see it," he stated.
